The Dick Kerr 'Standard' Tram

The Dick Kerr ‘standard’ tram produced in Preston and Kilmarnock was a classic design supplied to many tram operators throughout the UK.
The 'Standard' was available in three formats fully enclosed, open driving compartment rest enclosed and finally open.
The tram running on a 4 wheel truck was available in both one and two deck options.
Dick Kerr and Company sold their Kilmarnock works in 1919 to the Kilmarnock Engineering Company and the company were taken over by English Electric who continued to use the Dick Kerr name on their tramway products.
The tram type became the most common in use in Britain up to the1950s and hence a number have been preserved many in working order.
